EVISU
EVISU was founded in Osaka Japan in 1991 and is named after the Japanese God of prosperity Ebisu. Initially only around 14 pairs of jeans a day were created, each one caringly hand-painted with the now famous seagull logo. EVISU captured the imagination of the detail-obsessed Japanese fashion crowd and spurred a revial of interest in vintage denim which spread around the world. Today EVISU has gained critical acclaim, as one of the ultimate denim must haves, is internationally know and embraced by both collectors and hipsters alike. EVISU was initially more a labour of love than a commercial venture and despite phenomenal success EVISU’s mission to create the highest quality products has remained unchanged. This underlying value defines EVISU’s position as an icon in the history of denim wear. -
Chopova Lowena
Chopova Lowena juxtaposes folklore and sportswear with a concentration on sustainability and craft. Their anthropological approach to design is defined by observations and modernization of traditional textiles, crafts and techniques. Using nuanced intersections between worlds and themes they seamlessly collate references from bulgarian folklore to 1980s rock climbing. They strive for their designs to honour these references, but also to create something completely hybrid. In accomplishing their aesthetic vision, they prioritize sustainability through the utilization of recycled materials and deadstock textiles, often in the form of pillowcases and aprons. Their ethical dogma translates to their employment of skilled female artisans employed in Bulgaria. Through the cultivations of a community of seamstresses they are able to create job opportunities for women passionate about rejuvenating cultural heritage through the preservation of traditional techniques. The objective of their design and production of distinctive garments is to usher in a system of ethical consumption with a focus on appreciating skill, craft, time and consideration for impact on the environment. -
Converse
Founded in 1908, Converse Rubber Shoe Company - this was the initial name - was a rubber shoe manufacturer, providing winterized rubber-soled footwear for men, women, and children. The introduction of Chuck Taylor All-Star, in the 1920s, as basketball shoes, capable of guaranteeing flexibility and maximum comfort on the court, has changed everything. In the 1960s, Converse had captured about 70 to 80 percent of the basketball shoe market, with Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars being worn by ninety percent of professional and college basketball players. But, over the years, Converse tergiversed toward a catalog increasingly linked to lifestyle, punk, grunge, surf, and rock subcultures, and as a symbol of rebellion against the classical canons of modern society. Discover classic models of Chuck 70 and iconic collaborations with Gore-Tex, Slam Jam, Bosey MC, A-Cold-Wall*, Carhartt WIP and more.
