KAPPA KOMBAT CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY WITH AN EXCLUSIVE SLAM JAM SILHOUETTE AND 18 HISTORIC FOOTBALL CLUBS.
The 25th anniversary of the iconic Kombat™ football jersey marks the first dual-branded collaboration between Slam Jam and Kappa.
If you were wearing Kappa Kombat™, you had the ”stop-stopping” technology on your side: an innovative fabric that provided up to 30cm of extra freedom of movement and made holding fouls more visible. It made dodging adversaries easier too.
25 years later, the innovation of Kombat™ has become a universal standard. To celebrate such a legacy, we made our own version of their classic short sleeve and an exclusive special edition of the Kombat, called Kombat XXV. Signature overdyed black, Slam Jam and Kappa logos, our lucky number (89) and a built-in balaclava to complete the look.
The campaign to promote the project will feature the former French footballer Djibril Cissé, who famously wore the original edition of the Kombat™ for AJ Auxerre. Then, from November 15 to 30, 18 Kappa®-sponsored teams around the world will wear the special commemorative Kombat XXV shirt in official matches, linking stadiums worldwide into a single stage.
Among them are historic clubs such as Genoa CFC, ACF Fiorentina, OGC Nice, Red Star, Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol, Racing Club de Avellaneda, Vasco da Gama, Nacional de Madeira, Athens Kallithea, and many more. Each will feature in dedicated photoshoots and social activations, unified as a global broadcast.
We’ll play our part off the pitch, proving once again that culture, too, is a contact sport.
Kombat XXV will be available at Slam Jam and Kappa’s doors worldwide.
