AKILA

When Chris Mart founded AKILA, he already had ten years of experience in streetwear and had been the creative director of an eyewear company in Spain. Back in Los Angeles, he came up with the idea of producing affordable, durable, and functional glasses. Above all, to be free to express one's creativity without constraints. AKILA represents an independent crafted take on modern eyewear, with clear 90s and early Y2K influences, embodying the eclectic and multifarious streetwear scene in the City of the Angels through colors, shades, and iconic collaborations (Pleasures, SOTO, Grateful Dead, Mister Green, and many more). The mania for detail can be seen in the production process of each pair of glasses, which takes 90 days and over 100 technical steps. AKILA lenses are Optical Class 1 nylon lenses, making them thick, scratch-resistant, and 100% UVA/UVB resistant. AKILA also supports the use of sustainable materials (BIO-based acetate frame, extracted from cotton and wood pulp) and formed a partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a tree for every pair of glasses sold.
