Adidas Y-3 unveils its latest collection for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, featuring drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli alongside Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff. The collection spans a wide range of pieces—from driver tees to caps and bags—alongside a reimagined Y-3 Feroza silhouette. The inclusion of the wolf motif signals a clear connection to Yohji Yamamoto’s archive, while also evoking instinct, speed, and pack dynamics. That the CEO is named Wolff must be more than a happy coincidence.
Founded in 2002 by Yohji Yamamoto in collaboration with Adidas, Y-3 was built on the radical idea that performance sportswear and conceptual tailoring could coexist. Over time, this premise has been rearticulated across contexts and within Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1, where speed, precision, and identity converge into a distinct cultural language.
We teamed up with Michele Rizzo to further explore this dialogue. His practice is deeply tied to club culture, where the dancefloor operates as a choreographic system that he reshapes and rehearses as a contemporary ritual. What we wanted to see on video was rather simple: to stage a dialogue between human and machine, where movements appear rehearsed yet feel inevitable. Not unlike what unfolds on the racetrack, where drivers moving at extreme speed make precision appear effortless.
Light layers of smoke drifted through a minimal set, marked by circuit-like lines traced across the floor. French musician Kangding Ray created a sonic environment for the video, integrating authentic F1 engine sounds into the space. The body becomes an extension of the machine, and choreography unfolds as a system: repetition, synchronization, and intensity build toward a shared state, where individual agency dissolves into motion.
The Adidas Y-3 Mercedes‑AMG PETRONAS F1 collection is now available at Slam Jam doors worldwide. As a final note: wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
